HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming Headset Review (Time To Change The Game)

HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming Headset

We got the chance to review the Kingston HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming Headset, a gaming headset for hardcore gamers. And yes, we are totally impressed with its outstanding performance and its price. As we say the name gaming, the first and last thing that comes in our mind is 'performance' and this is what the HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming headset is all about.

In the packaging, apart from the headset itself, there are two additional ear cups with the velvet touch, a dual 3.5 mm adapter, detachable microphone and a pouch for keeping headphone. You can switch to the additional ear cups given apart from the leather cups that are pre-installed. While for the first time users it will be hard to change these ear cups, don’t worry it will get loose after several switching. You have a detachable stereoscopic Mic that has good frequency response of about 18.

The HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming headset offers both audio and microphone jacks, which means you can even use it with 3.5mm audio jack supported devices such as tablet, smartphone, desktop or laptop. As it is a gaming headset, so it supports gaming consoles too, like PlayStation and Xbox. And if you have a Windows running gaming machines, then the good thing is that it can easily run without any driver installation, which is a required thing in other USB powered headsets.

The total weight of the headset is about 260 Grams which is not the lightest but acceptable for such bunch of features and low price tag. But if you wear it for long, then you might feel uncomfortable. As during my testing phase, it felt heavy for my head and ears. So, don't use it continuously, try to take 15 minutes break too. That will allow your mind and ears to take some rest. The HyperX provides really long extension cord apart from built in cord (Total about 7 feet). The extension cord consists of two male and two female ends for extending the current braided cord. The headset comes with a “Y” connector so that you may plug in the audio and microphone jack into a single microphone/audio port, that means it makes 2 input to single output (just like in smartphones).

As Kingston found it wasn’t enough they have also included an in-line controller with 40 inches of extra cable. This controller is meant for turning the volume up and down, and also allowing the user to speak into the microphone with the press of a button. In addition to the controller, the headset comes with an audio adapter that turns one male connector into two.

It’s enough for the build and what you going to get in the sales package, but what is more important is its sound for which it is meant for.In non-technical terms it is definitely awesome and something that is a gamer’s prerequisite. While in technical terminology the headset is powered by 53 mm drivers and have a frequency response ranging from 15 Hz to 25,000 Hz. While the impedance of 60 Ω per system is really exceptional here, and due to an ambient noise attenuation of approximately 20 dB the total harmonic distortion is less than 2 percent, and yet it is practically true apart from specifications.

Moreover, I myself had tried looking for some distortion out of the headphones, but I couldn’t. I have tried it on every single devices that have audio port facility, starting from my Phone when I cranked the volume to max in while listing music but sound was crystal clear, no distortion at all.  Tried connecting to my Television and the same result was with my gaming PC too.Since it is a gaming headset, so it’s very obvious that you are going to wear it at least an hour or more (that depends on you). So, comfort must be among top notch priority. With little topping of extra pairs of cushions, this headset covers that too. For me it worked great I was able to play Crysis 3 for about 2 hours without any discomfort or ache.

So, all in all you get all you pay for. The Kingston HyperX Cloud Pro Gaming headset is an amazing headphone, if you are a gaming or even audiophile, it serves its purpose well. While the opinion changes from person to person, but if you ask us, then we will highly recommend this HyperX Gaming headset to all of our readers.
