China shuts down Apple’s iTunes Movies and iBookstore

Apple China

After around six months of their official launch, Apple’s iTunes Movies and iBookstore are now inaccessible in China. Apple no longer can sell movies or ebooks in China, as the Chinese government regulatory has reportedly asked the services’ shut down. Both iTunes Movies and the iBookstore were inaccessible in China since last week. One important thing to note here is that, except iBookstore and iTunes Movies, other Apple services are still live in China.

According to The New York Times, the shut down is because of China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television. Apple is already working to fix the problem. "We hope to make books and movies available again to our customers in China as soon as possible," an Apple spokesperson told the publication.

China is currently Apple’s second-biggest market. So, this shut down will definitely affect Apple in major way.
