James Cameron, the man behind Avatar, announced at CinemaCon that his team is working on total of four new sequels for the film. The first Avatar sequel, which is currently being referred as Avatar 2, will hit theaters in 2018.
Cameron further added that as screenwriting involves lots of hard work and takes time to complete, so these new films will be released after a couple of hours. The Avatar 2 will hit theaters during the holiday season of 2018, while Avatar 3 in 2020, Avatar 4 in 2022, and Avatar 5 in 2023.
“It’s going to be a true epic saga that’s told in this rich and complex world,” Cameron teased.
Not only sequels, Cameron is planning many things to expand the blue world of Avatar. During the announcement, he revealed that they are already in talk with Disney for the theme park, and they have also signed a deal with Dark Horse Comics for graphic novel spin-offs. So, Avatar fans would have many thing to enjoy, while the filmmakers work on the movie.
