Amazon, world’s largest online retailer, on Sunday launched its video streaming service called Prime Video. As reported earlier, Prime Video is Amazon’s answer to Netflix, the leading name in the online video streaming industry.
While both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are designed to offer same functionality, i.e. work as a monthly video streaming service, but the way they are doing that is different. The price of Prime Video is $8.99 per month, which is lower than Netflix’s popular Standard plan which costs $9.99, but higher than Netflix’s base plan which costs $7.99, but lacks HD videos.
Another big different between these two is content. While Amazon is doing its best to expand its video programming service with award winning shows like “Transparent” and “Mozart in the Jungle,” they are still not as popular as Netflix original series which include “House of Cards,” “Daredevil,” and many more.
To attract more customers, Amazon has also thought about small small things that are important as the big ones. Like for example, the company also allows users to easily download shows for offline viewing, which is good, as we don’t always have an active Internet connection. And the company is also bundling the monthly subscription with free two-day shipping on products purchased from Amazon.com, the Amazon Music library and some other goodies.
Along with that, Amazon is now also offer Amazon Prime as a monthly service instead of the yearly subscription feature. So, now you can buy Amazon Prime for $10.99 per month.
