Apple has officially launched the Apple TV app on Android smartphones and tablets. Until now, Android users had to rely on a web browser to access Apple TV+, but with this new development, they can enjoy a smoother, app-based experience.

The Apple TV Android app comed with several key features:

  • Full Access to Apple Originals: Android users can now watch Apple TV+ exclusives like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Morning Show, and For All Mankind directly from the app.
  • Personalized Watchlist: The app allows users to add shows and movies to their watchlist and pick up where they left off with the “Continue Watching” feature.
  • Offline Viewing: Just like on iOS, users can download content to watch later without needing an internet connection.
  • Picture-in-Picture Mode: Viewers can continue watching their favorite shows while multitasking on their Android device.
  • Subscription & Free Trial: New users can sign up for Apple TV+ directly on Android app, with a 7-day free trial before the standard subscription fee kicks in.

The launch of the Apple TV Android app mirrors the company’s strategy with Apple Music, which also became available for Android users. This move could significantly expand Apple TV+’s audience, competing more directly with Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+.

While the Apple TV app was already available on smart TVs and game consoles, its absence on Android smartphones was a major gap. With this launch, Apple is finally making its streaming service truly cross-platform.

You cna now download Apple TV app for Android from the Google Play Store.
