After much anticipation, tvN has announced that the hit series ‘Signal’ will return for its second season in 2026. This move comes as part of tvN’s celebrations for its upcoming 20th anniversary, marking a significant milestone for the network and its iconic programming.
At the recent ‘CJ ENM 콘텐츠 톡 2025’ event, organised on February 10, Park Sang-hyeok, Head of CJ ENM’s Channel Business Division, shared network’s plans for the year. Among the major highlights was the announcement of ‘Signal’ Season 2. The company promises to deliver more captivating storytelling, high-stakes investigations, and complex characters.
In a special video message, actress Kim Hye-soo, who will reprise her role from the first season, encouraged fans to look forward to the new season and expressed confidence in the hard work of the cast and crew. “We are all committed to making Season 2 as impactful as the first,” she said.
The original ‘Signal’ series, which aired in 2016, captivated viewers with its unique narrative where detectives from different time periods communicate through a mysterious walkie-talkie to solve cold cases. The show was a massive success, earning impressive viewership ratings and widespread acclaim for its suspenseful plot and strong performances by its lead actors, including Lee Je-hoon and Cho Jin-woong.
Following its success, fans have been eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story. In a 2024 interview, writer Kim Eun-hee confirmed that plans for the second season were well underway.
