Uber kills its instant food delivery service in New York City

In a surprise move, Uber has decided to kill its “instant” option from UberEats. The company on Monday announced that starting April 18th it is removing the instant food delivery option from its UberEats app in New York City. So, those who loved it, might wanna try something new or different.

“In order to bring you the most exciting selection, the highest quality food, and the fastest delivery time, we’ve decided to narrow our focus,” Uber wrote in an email to its users informing about the changes. “Starting today, 4/18, we’ll no longer be offering a daily Instant Delivery lunch menu.”

While Uber didn’t reveal the main reason behind this change, but the company says that it wants to narrow its focus. One important thing to note here is that, Uber removed the instant delivery option only in New York City, the feature is still available in other markets where UberEats currently operates.

When Uber launched its UberEats app in the United States in mid-March, it promised to offer great food ordering service. To do that, the company partnered with several restaurants across the US and introduced two different options for the delivery. The first option was the normal one, in which customers could order food from any restaurants they like and Uber would then initiate the delivery process. While the second one was “instant delivery” option, which as the name suggests, offered timely deliveries. The company promised that it would deliver the food in just 10 minutes.

UberEats bet big on the second feature, but now it appears like something not went as they planned. And the result of which they have decided to kill the feature.
